NewCom Unveils High-Scale Shared Platform

NetSharing AfricaWhile shared bandwidth services have become a cost-efficient solution for businesses or governments looking to provide small volumes of communications services to numerous locations, there has been no comparable solution for PPTs, wireless providers and GSM companies that require significant bandwidth but have only a few locations - until now.

NewCom is unveiling a new shared platform service in Africa that will give large usage businesses with only three or four locations the ability to reduce costs by sharing bandwidth instead of relying on dedicated point-to-point services for each location. The sophisticated platform takes the shared bandwidth concept to the next level, exponentially increasing the 512/128 kbps currently available to sites through NewCom's iDirect shared service to 135 mbps down/20 mbps per site.

NewCom Teams with Telecom Providers to Offer Turnkey Solutions in Latin America

NewCom is partnering with telecom providers throughout Latin America to assist them in providing cost-effective, turnkey communications solutions for this vital, developing region.

Because of the enormous infrastructure and support costs associated with satellite communications services, many on-the-ground telecom providers are turning to NewCom for help. NewCom's strategic Miami-based teleport, which features two satellite footprints in Latin America and point-to-point connections with four T-1 carriers, gives telecom providers the solution they need so they can focus on local operations.

“Their specialty is local installations and maintenance, which in itself is a huge job,” notes Dora Mejia, Director of Sales for NewCom. “We fit in by providing the backbone for everything that relates to teleport services. We have the hub, the internet access, the engineering design team, the space segment and the 24/7 NOC. Our other strength is our understanding of the Latin American culture. We speak the language and know how the contract approval process works.”

KVH, NewCom Partner to Offer Global Mobile Broadband Coverage for Maritime Industry

KVH Industries, the leader in mobile satellite TV and satellite communications systems, has selected NewCom to market its powerful Mini-VSAT Broadband Service to the commercial maritime and government sectors around the globe. The Mini-VSAT Broadband Service – which requires only a small 24-inch TracPhone VY antenna instead of the standard 1.2 meter VSAT systems – is a breakthrough technology that intuitively tracks satellites and automatically shifts to different satellite footprints as necessary. The service enables vessels ranging from cargo and military ships to cruisers to access cost-efficient high-speed broadband coverage while on the move, regardless of where they are in the world. The turnkey package includes a port that facilitates easy hook up to a fax machine or telephone, providing all the conveniences of a home office or business center on the high seas.

NewCom – one of only a select few resellers targeting the commercial sector for KVH – is the only reseller that has a NOC for Latin America, giving KVH entry into this vital market.
